DARE CALL

CHAPTER 1

“I’ve lost my moon, now I’m left with only stars in the sky and they are not beautiful as it was”

Time: 8:37

Faran woke up to the sound of his alarm. He hadn’t been looking forward to waking up for days now. He hated the world he lived in, a world without his best friend, Janani. Her disappearance had left him with more questions than answers.

Faran and Janani had been inseparable since nursery school. They had studied together until 10th standard, and their bond had grown stronger with each passing day. They lived just a kilometer apart and would often walk to school together.

Faran remembered the day he first took notice of Janani. She was playing football, and he was impressed by her skills. As a die-hard football fan, he decided to approach her and strike up a conversation. They quickly discovered their shared passion for football, although they supported different teams. Janani was a Messi fan, while Faran idolized Ronaldo. Their friendly arguments and banter eventually blossomed into a beautiful friendship.

One day, Faran invited Janani to watch the El Clasico match between Real Madrid and Barcelona at a local club. Barcelona won the match, and Messi scored a stunning goal. Janani teased Faran mercilessly, and he felt a mix of sadness and happiness. He realized he had found a true friend in Janani.

As they entered 8th grade, their bond grew stronger. Faran was the star player of the school men’s team, while Janani excelled on the women’s team. They practiced together, and their teammates looked up to them. Faran’s talent and hard work made him a potential professional footballer. Janani’s unwavering support and encouragement motivated him to push his limits.

Faran had fallen deeply in love with Janani, but he feared confessing his feelings, lest it ruin their friendship. Janani, however, sensed his emotions and waited patiently for him to express them.

Faran’s thoughts drifted back to the present, and he felt a pang of sadness. He was now in Delhi, pursuing his post-graduation. Though he had made many friends, none of them filled the void left by Janani. He missed her every day, and the pain of her absence still lingered.

Faran found solace in writing and decided to pen down his feelings about Janani. He wrote:

“I’ve lost my moon, now I’m left with only stars in the sky, and they’re not as beautiful as it was.”

Tears welled up in his eyes as he thought about Janani. He yearned to be with her again, even if only in his dreams. Sleep became his escape, a way to reunite with Janani, if only for a fleeting moment.

As he drifted off to sleep, Faran’s mind wandered back to the memories he had shared with Janani. They had spent countless days together, exploring the city, watching movies, and laughing until their sides hurts.

Everything had been perfect until his alarm shattered the illusion. Faran woke up to the harsh realities of a world without Janani. He longed to go back to those carefree days, to relive the moments they had shared. But for now, he was stuck in a world without his moon, his guiding light, his Janani.

We were at the park.
We were at the beach.
We were watching a movie.
We spent our nights and days together.
We were living the life we had always wished for.
Everything was perfect.

Until my alarm rang.

Once again, it shattered my time with her.
I’m back to the harsh realities of the real world.
I’m back to the mundane routines of real life.
I’m back to a life without her, again.

I wish I could live there with her forever, where we were happy, and she was still with me.
